From The Editor
Seasons Greetings
As we wrap up yet another year of Senior Times Magazine, I can't help but think about how fast time flies. This is our magazine's 9th year in publication and I've now been with Tower Publications for more than 4 years, but it seems like far less time.
Years ago, my father had warned me about this 'time-flying' phenomenon, when I had commented about the speed in which the past year had raced by.
"Wait till you get to be my age," he said. "It will go so fast you won't believe it."I am probably now at the age he was when he made that remark. And time does seem to race by faster and faster. If any of you have an explanation for this phenomenon, I'd be interested in hearing it.
This wasn't always the case. I remember when the schooldays would drag on and on. I especially remember watching the clock in the classroom, waiting for that last minute to click off.
These days I blink and eye and another year zips by. Why, just yesterday I was saying my wedding vows. Now our baby daughter is grown and has babies of her own. Indeed, my wife and I have become (gasp!) grandparents.
But I am grateful. Children and grandchildren are blessings -- but they can sure wear you out. Fortunately, we can spoil the grandkids rotten and then give them back.
This promises to be a very active Christmas season in the Isaac household, with the kids and the grandkids. Our children range in age from 25 to 18 to 8. Add the two little granddaughters to the mix and you have quite the lively Christmas morning.
I remember going to my grandparents' home each Christmas when I was a child. They had a separate part of the house reserved for the kids. This made sense because there were so many of us. Chaos reigned -- happy, joyful Christmas chaos.
My wife and I continue this holiday tradition, only now we have become Grandma and Grandpa Isaac, inviting the extended family to our home to celebrate.
I am grateful for the blessings bestowed upon me. I'm grateful for a loving, healthy family, a rewarding job and another year under my belt, among other things too numerous to mention.
I'm also grateful to all of you for reading Senior Times Magazine. I sincerely hope you have all enjoyed our stories as much as I've enjoyed providing them to you.
As always, on behalf of everyone here at Tower Publications, I wish you and yours a very safe and happy holiday season! §
